Harry Potter Party

Kids Party

A Harry Potter kids party makes a great kids party or even a great theme birthday party. This party is a wonderful opportunity for you and your child to share in the making of kids party crafts and kids party foods. To find designer outfits at great prices for your child to wear to their party, shop www.treasureboxkids.com.

To start the kids party crafts, begin by purchasing or making capes to give to each child as they arrive (after Halloween these can be purchased very inexpensively). You can make wizard wands very easily from twigs in the yard. You might want to treat the wood with a light coat of craft glue. You can also cover the tip with fine polyester glitter to give it an extra special look. A wizard hat can be made from a brown paper bag turned inside out and turned up at the bottom to create the lip of the hat. Be sure to crinkle the bag to give it a worn look.

A great party game for this party would be to have a treasure hunt for the real Sorcerers stone. Before the party, take a large stone and spray paint it gold and hide it in the yard.

Depending on the ages of the children you can give them hints on where the stone is buried or have hint cards written out on index cards. You can take index cards and slightly burn the edges of the cards. Roll them in a scroll and tie them with string. You can have the children look for this treasure on their own or in groups or houses, depending upon the number of children attending the party.

For a cute centerpiece that can be used as a piata select a wizards hat piata. It will be fun and it will look very nice as a center piece before the breaking of the piata.

For the kids party food, mix together potions using fruit juices and kool-aide. Put these in separate bottles and display them on a vinyl table clothe. Have plastic cups, plates and utensils for the food drinks available. Allow the children to pick their poison or they can give it to another child. You can label the jars as follows:

Sleeping Potion – blue “kool-aid”
Extract of Pituitary – lemonade
Dragon tears – red punch
Excitability Formula – orange kool-aid
Hippogriff Gizzard – Jell-O “jigglers”
Bloodworms – gummy worms
Mandrake Root – dried papaya

Help the young guests to be creative when they create their own potions. This will certainly be a fun, affordable party that will not be forgotten.

Start by taking some favorite photos and have them blown up to a larger size. This is easily done at Kinkos or your local photo copying store for only a couple of dollars. To save a step, make the copies on poster paper if possible. This will make the finished project more durable. You can also take the enlarged photos and glue them to poster board or card stock.

Next, cut out different puzzle shapes in the photos. You can make them as large or as small as you desire taking into consideration the age of your child. Once you have cut apart the photos have your child put them back together again. It will teach your child shape recognition, memory and how things can be put together.

Kids Activities

Button Board

Fun kids activities that involve math are a great way for developing basic math skills. Kids educational activities allow children to have fun while learning which makes learning a whole lot easier for them. Children will enjoy fun kids crafts and kids activities while wearing their new adorable clothing from Treasure Box Kids.

Kids Math Activities

Kids Math Activities

Start out by getting a piece of heavy cardboard, make it a little larger than a regular sheet of paper. Cover the cardboard with plain fabric to make it look more realistic. You can use colorful fabric using one or a couple of colors to give the board a fun look.

Collect as many buttons as you can find around the house or you can go to a craft store and buy some colorful buttons. Hot glue the buttons on to the cardboard in rows across and down. Try to keep them in a line for the fun kids educational activities that you will be doing with your child.

Once the glue has dried, your child can begin learning math and colors on the button board. You can teach color identification by having your child point out all the red buttons. This will also show them the different shades of one color. Then, you can have your child count the button in each row. You might be surprised how a young child will learn addition as well as multiplication.

For this character game, you will need to find pictures of some popular childrens characters. If your child has a theme to their party, it would be great to use the themed characters for this character game. When the kids arrive, tell them to turn around as you pin the character to their back. Each child will not be able to see what is on their own picture but will be able to see the other childrens characters. The other kids around them will give them hints as to who they are until each child guesses their character.

It will be fun to see the imaginative things that kids in kindergarten will say. As the children figure out who they are they will receive a prize.

You might want to celebrate with a bottle of carbonated apple juice served in tall plastic Champagne glasses.

Here are a few suggestions begin with the making of a cherry float. Cherry 7-up and vanilla ice cream make this drink a real hit. Top it off with whipped cream and a maraschino cherry. Be sure to put it in a clear glass for the festive look.

You can make or purchase frosted heart shaped cookies from your local bakery or grocery store. With a steady hand, print the name of each guest on the cookie with a decorating tube. For food that will make this kids birthday party perfect, make heart shaped peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Freeze fruit punch in heart shaped ice trays or candy molds. Make enough fruit punch ice for at least three cubes per child. You can also use lemon-lime soda for a very different and tasty beverage.
